Thank You

The election is over; and the results surpassed our wildest expectations. Don and I are filled with gratitude and appreciation. Although we have no desire to repeat the campaign, we enjoyed visiting and meeting people in every corner of Kankakee County. We had the help of family and friends to whom we will be eternally grateful. Mike O'Brien, Alice Argelyn, Nick Allen and Bill Smith lent their considerable talents, time, and wisdom. My brother, Marc Wakat, and his entire family were tireless in their efforts on my behalf.

Let's Get out the Vote!

The time has come to get out the vote. We've knocked on more doors and identified more voters than ever before. That means we need all the help we can get to make sure our voters make it to the polls. If you have any time to donate this weekend, Monday, or, most importantly, on Tueday, election day, please call 1 815 935-2200 and tell the person who answers that you want to keep Judge Albrecht in the Kankakee courthouse. They will put you in touch with Patty, who will schedule you to help. Thank you to everyone for your help and kindness throughout this long campaign.

Legal Updates

During the month of April, Judge Albrecht will continue her efforts to share legal and technical knowledge with fellow members of the legal community and with the residents of Kankakee County.

On April 3, 2008, at 5:30 PM, she will participate in a program at Lorenzo Smith School in Hopkins Park addressing the problem of juvenile addiction. Unfortunately drug addiction, including alcohol and nicotine, permeates our society. It is present in every corner of the County and every segment of our society. Children are particularly susceptible to addiction because of the stage of their development. Addressing this problem constructively is crucial, in Judge Albrecht's opinion, to the future of our community.

On April 8, Judge Albrecht will provide an update at the annual program for juvenile officers in the County as part of their re-certification. Every major police department in our area has specially trained officers to deal with juvenile matters. The program is an essential part of their training.

Judge Albrecht welcomes these and every opportunity to share and learn from the community, both local and legal.
